Suarez-Frommer & Associates Wins Latino Marketing Awards ‘Best Non-ProfitCampaign’.

NoticiasWire.Com has announced that Suarez/Frommer & Associates is the recipient of two 2002 Latino Marketing Awards for “Best Non-Profit Campaign” in both the advertising and public relations categories. The Pasadena-based integrated communications agency was selected for its healthcare campaign targeting Latino families. The awards recognize excellence in a campaign by a non-profit organization “to educate the public about an issue affecting the Latino community.”

The winning campaign — “Insuring our Children’s Future / Asegurando el Futuro de Nuestros Hijos” — was produced on behalf of Catholic Healthcare West, California’s largest non-profit hospital system, and was intended to increase enrollment in a low-cost children’s health insurance program administered by the State of California.

Suarez/Frommer & Associates (suarezfrommer.com) employed an integrated social marketing approach that utilized advertising, media and government relations, strategic partnerships, and community outreach to target Latino families, their influencers, and other stakeholders in the Latino community.

The agency developed a public-private partnership that included media partner Hispanic Broadcast Corporation, community-based organizations, school districts, as well as support from three dozen county, state and federal legislators. Among supportive elected officials, U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, a champion of low-cost health insurance for children, produced a video endorsement for the launch event.

Suarez/Frommer secured Renan “El Cucuy” Almendarez — LA’s top-rated Spanish language radio DJ — as campaign spokesperson. Cucuy used his powerful radio platform to cajole Latino moms and dads into enrolling their kids, assuring skeptical parents that they would neither be deported nor considered welfare recipients — two key points of resistance to the underutilized health insurance program.
