washingtonpost.com Revisits 40th Anniversary Of Cuban Missile Crisis.

washingtonpost.com announced a special multimedia news section that allows users to relive the historic days of the Cuban missile crisis through digital versions of historic Washington Post editions. “Reliving the World’s Most Dangerous Days” allows Web users to view The Washington Post from October 22-October 29 1962, read the headlines or view the paper in its entirety.

In addition to the digital archive, the missile crisis anniversary coverage includes recent stories written by Washington Post writers and links to pertinent documents from the CIA and State department. Also included is a special live discussion with washingtonpost.com World editor Jefferson Morley, who was in Havana on October 14, 2002 for a conference with U.S., Russian and Cuban officials debating the lessons learned from the crisis.

“These archives are a powerful tool for us to relive an important historical event in a way that only the Web allows,” said Christopher M. Schroeder, washingtonpost.com CEO and publisher. “Delivering forty-year old archives of the Post newspaper to our audience and combining them with interactive features creates an incredible forum for better understanding the events that shaped our world.”

Each day from October 22 to October 29, on the fortieth anniversary of that day, a new issue of the Post from October 1962 will be available on washingtonpost.com. To view the special section CLICK below:
