Booker – Director Of Supplier Diversity @ Coca-Cola.

Ms. Johnnie B. Booker, a recognized expert in the field of diversity and affirmative action, has joined Coca-Cola North America as Director, Supplier Diversity. In this role, Booker will focus on developing and implementing The Coca-Cola Company’s U.S. based supplier diversity strategic framework and work directly with business unit leaders to develop strategies to deliver on their minority and women-owned supplier spending goals. She also will be charged with creating and executing a broad company-wide vendor communications strategy.

“Johnnie brings a wealth of experience in developing and implementing supplier diversity initiatives,” said Cece Webster, vice president, Strategic Procurement for Coca-Cola North America. “Johnnie and her team will be working with each business unit leader to develop and implement strategies to deliver on the five-year $800 million Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Initiative.”

Prior to joining the Company, Booker worked as a consultant for a number of national agencies and corporations, helping them develop supplier diversity initiatives and programs. She also served in the federal government at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) as director, Office of Equal Opportunity and vice president, Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC). In her RTC role, she created unprecedented contracting and investor opportunities for minority and women-owned businesses; planned, developed and managed supplier/vendor diversity and outreach programs; and was principal advisor to the corporation’s President and Chief Executive Officer.

While at RTC, she also commissioned the first diversity/disparity study by a federal agency and increased contracting fees for minority and women-owned businesses from 18 percent to over 48 percent.

Before joining the FDIC, Booker worked for the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Operations. While there, she established a new office of affirmative action and equal opportunity and successfully revamped the Department’s fragmented approach to complaint processing and affirmative action employment programs.

“I am extremely excited to be joining Coca-Cola North America,” Booker said. “I am confident that this opportunity will result in major diversity accomplishments for The Coca-Cola Company and the communities it serves.”

Booker’s appointment coincides with the introduction of a new, consolidated supplier diversity procurement process. Potential suppliers can now complete one simple application/certification form that will be utilized by Coca-Cola North America, The Minute Maid Company and Coca-Cola Enterprises.
