McCann-Erickson Detroit announced that it has been named the advertising agency-of-record for the Kroger Company of Michigan.

McCann Detroit, in partnership with its retail unit McCann/Jay, will be responsible for all creative development as well as media buying and planning for Kroger’s Michigan operations. This will entail a primary focus on radio and strategically placed television during key selling seasons throughout the year. McCann Detroit will also consult on the design of in-store sign programs and standards, and print and handbills.

According to Garry Neel, executive vice president and managing director at McCann Detroit, the agency’s new partnership with Kroger will focus on expanding Kroger’s presence and position in Michigan.

“The brand intelligence — retail response expertise we bring with our McCann/Jay retail group is a perfect match for Kroger,” said Neel. “It’s a great example of how we can customize the unique resources our agency has to offer to fit our clients’ needs.”
