Martinez – VP LatAM Ops @ PanAmSat.

PanAmSat Corporation announced the appointment of Eduardo J. Martinez to the position of vice president, Latin America operations. In the newly created post, Mr. Martinez is responsible for overall management of the company’s sales efforts in Latin America. In this capacity, he directs the sale of full-time broadcast, business data communications, video and telecommunications services throughout the region. Mr. Martinez reports to Tom Eaton, PanAmSat’s executive vice president of global sales.

“With his considerable sales and marketing experience in the communications industry, Ed will be a great asset to the company as we expand our presence in Latin America,” said Mr. Eaton. “I believe that his talent will enable PanAmSat to carry on its long and proud heritage of customer service in the region.”

As vice president, Latin America operations, Mr. Martinez oversees PanAmSat’s sales office in Coral Gables, Fla. Mr. Martinez manages the sale of all PanAmSat value-added satellite services to broadcast, cable, Internet and telecommunications customers throughout Mexico, and Central and South America. These offerings include the company’s global program distribution, direct-to-home, Internet backbone access, business communications and data services as well as special event and ad hoc services.

Before his appointment to vice president, Mr. Martinez was executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Telefonica Data-USA, a leading provider of integrated business solutions for corporate communications and data services. Prior to that position, Mr. Martinez was senior vice president of sales and marketing at Telscape International, where he was responsible for creating and implementing business-to-business and business-to-consumer sales and marketing strategies and programs.

Mr. Martinez’s 19 years of experience also includes a position as sales and marketing director of local services at AT&T/Loral Skynet, where he created the local sales initiatives and sales force infrastructure for AT&T’s Global Services Market segment across nine southeastern U.S. states. Prior to AT&T, Mr. Martinez was vice president of sales and marketing for Mexico’s Marcatel International. Mr. Martinez’s experience also includes a position with Skytel as director of global sales, where he co-directed the company’s strategic alliance with MCI. Mr. Martinez began his career at MCI Telecommunications Corp., where he held several positions over 12 years in sales and marketing.
