Maya launches Latin Film Series.

Los Angeles based Maya Entertainment has joined forces with home entertainment mega brand BLOCKBUSTER to present groundbreaking Latin Cinema from acclaimed filmmakers and star talent in major US markets. The series, which consists of eight Latino-themed films, launches on July 17 in Los Angeles and runs through eight cities, ending in Dallas on September 10.

The films, programmed by Maya’s Acquisitions executives, Jose Martinez, Jr. and Tonantzin Esparza, will be featured within the following schedule of dates, cities and locations, and include: “The Line”, “Vicious Circle”, “Bajo La Sal”, “Sultanes del Sur”, “Once Upon a Time in Rio”, “Crónicas Chilangas”, “Bad Guys”, and “Mancora”.

The Line – Starring Andy Garcia (Ocean’s 13), Ray Liotta (Goodfellas), Armand Assante (Mambo Kings), Esai Morales (Fast Food Nation) and Danny Trejo (Grindhouse).

Vicious Circle – Starring Paul Rodriguez Jr. (Brothers Garcia), Emily Rios (Quinceanera), Robert Zepeda (Gridiron Gang) and Paul Rodriguez (One Long Night).

Bajo La Sal – Starring Humberto Zurita and Irene Azuela (who won an Ariel Awards, the Mexico equivalent of an Oscar for her performance).

Sultanes del Sur (Southern Sultans) – Starring Tony Dalton (Matando Cabos, Efectos Secundarios), Jordi Molla (Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Bad Boys II) and Ana De la Reguera (Nacho Libre).

Once Upon a Time in Rio – Starring Thiago Martins, Viroria Frate and Rocco Pitanga.

Crónicas Chilangas (Chilangas Chronicles) – The film premiered at the 2009 Guadalajara Film Festival and won for “Mexican First Work,” “Mexican Screenplay,” and “Best Actor” award going to Patricio Castillo.

Bad Guys – Starring Kate del Castillo (Under the Same Moon) and Danny Strong (Gilmore Girls, Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

Mancora – Starring Enrique Murciano (Traffic, Without a Trace), Elsa Pataky (Snakes on a Plane) and Phellipe Haagensen (City of God).
