The Latino Electorate in South Florida.

WSUA – Radio Caracol 1260 AM in South Florida, has sponsored a study which indicates that Hispanics in South Florida will break voting records during this year’s local and national elections.

The study, “The Latino Electorate in South Florida”, was conducted by GeoIdea, Inc for Radio Caracol and analyzed all of our areas census tracks as well as its political precincts. All findings are solely based on governmental data and cover three areas; South Florida, Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

This new study documents that as of October 2011, the Latinos that were registered to vote were 642,775 in Miami Dade County, 170,206 in Broward, and a total of 812,981 for South Florida (Miami Dade & Broward).

Data also shows that Latino Registration has increased dramatically from 2004 to 2011; the Latino voter registration has increased with 189,774 new voters in South Florida (Miami Dade & Broward). Within the Non Cuban Census tracts there were 143,946 Democrats, 117,460 Republicans, and 110,231 no party affiliation. This number represents almost 45% of the South Florida voter registration in 2011, the study notes.

With this valuable information, Radio Caracol has kicked off a new weekly program “Caracol Decisión 2012” hosted by Yoly Cuello that is dedicated to provide their Hispanic listeners with the most complete political coverage for the 2012 election year.

“The Latino electorate will play a decisive role in Election 2012 as their votes continue to increase with each Presidential election. Our station is excited to make a greater commitment to the electoral process by introducing this new program to our daily listeners.” said Tomas Martinez, Vice-President and General Manager at Radio Caracol 1260 AM.
