Radio Unica In LA To Cover Majoral Race.

Radio Unica 1580 AM Los Angeles announced it will cover Los Angeles’ mayoral elections with a special series of interviews hosted by Ricardo Brown, news veteran and host of the network’s daily program, Muy Temprano. The special broadcasts will air April 5, 6, 9 and 11, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (PT); and April 10 – Election Day – from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (PT).

“Radio Unica’s coverage of these elections is an enormous milestone for us,” said Ricardo Brown. “The broadcast will be available to one hundred percent of Hispanic listeners in the greater Los Angeles area and more importantly, our quality of programming speaks to our commitment to provide listeners with the service and information they deserve,” he added.

“This is another enormous step towards generating programming that reflects the interests of the Hispanic community in Los Angeles,” said Bill Jenkins, general manager of Radio Unica 1580 AM Los Angeles. “Ricardo Brown’s knowledge and love for politics will greatly influence the program’s dynamics highlighting local issues that impact and concern our listeners,” he added.

During the broadcast, Ricardo Brown will ask questions covering issues such as education, immigration, police brutality, energy crisis, the local economy, social services and labor issues. KBLA’s coverage will give the participating mayoral candidates an opportunity to present their policy issues to Hispanics who account for 40.6% of the city’s population.1

The front-running candidates participating include Antonio Villaraigosa, Xavier Becerra, James Hahn, and Kathleen Connell. In addition, the station’s coverage will include the participation of special community, media and political leaders such as Sergio Bendixen, President of Bendixen & Associates, a public opinion and strategic research firm specializing in the Hispanic market; and Gloria Molina, one of five members of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, among others.
