The Latin Pride Foundation, Inc. announced the 7th Annual Latin Pride Los Angeles Festival that will take place on Sunday, September 4th 2005 during Labor Day Weekend on 8th Street, between Grand Ave. and Olive St. in Downtown Los Angeles,
Seven years ago, Latin Pride Foundation Inc. hosted the first Latin Pride Los Angeles Festival in a small parking lot. Today, it has become one of the largest Latin Gay/Alternative Pride Community Festival in the United States, with last year’s attendance surpassing 20,000 people in one day.
The Festival will be the official kick-off festival for Hispanic Heritage Month for the City of Los Angeles. The Festival will consist of: HIV/AIDS screening clinic, cultural and art exhibits, multi-cultural food court, carnival pavilion, dance tent, a performing stage of top billboard Latin music talent, and an official after-party.
This year’s Queen of the Festival and performing headliner will be legendary entertainer VERONICA CASTRO and as the festival’s Godmother transgender TV celebrity CACHITA (Univision’s Gordo y La Flaca). Sharing the stage will be REGGAETON’s hottest performer IVY QUEEN, Salsa diva ALBITA, Telenovela’s hottest couple NIURKA y BOBBY LARIOS, Rock en español singer/songwriter ZAYRA ALVAREZ, Regional Urban Hip hopers CAPITAN and KALIMEN, Mexico’s controversial rapper JJMC aka GERARDO GOMEZ BORBOLLA, banda darlings BRAVADA, the ex-lead singer of Sonora Dinamita VILMA DIAZ Y SU SONORA SHOW and +Celia Cruz’ former band leader YARI MORE AND HIS ORCHESTRA.
The Festival represents every sector of the Latino population, including Mexican, Cuban, Puerto Rican, South American, Ibero-American and other Latin communities. By placing an emphasis on community building, education and charity, the Festival has been a success for its organizers as well as its involved sponsors.
