Hoy & Newsday Official Newspapers Of NYC’s National Puerto Rican Day Parade.

Hoy has been named the official Spanish-language newspaper and Newsday the official English-language newspaper of the seventh annual National Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York on June 9.

“We are extremely proud to be part of one the most important events in the United States,” said Hoy Publisher, President and CEO Louis Sito. “The National Puerto Rican Day Parade is of great importance to the Puerto Rican Community. Through the parade, the Puerto Rican community is able to showcase their culture, heritage and the contributions they have made to this country.”

Carlos Velasquez, business agent for the parade, said “This relationship makes a lot of sense. The parade now has a partnership in both the general market and the Spanish language print media.”

The National Puerto Rican Day Parade was created seven years ago as a means of expanding the scope of the highly successful New York Puerto Rican Day Parade. The National Parade promotes a national awareness and appreciation of Puerto Rican culture and its contribution to the culture and society of the United States. It draws over 2 million spectators and is broadcast to an estimated 12 million viewers. Marchers step off at 44th St. and march up Fifth Avenue to 86th St.
