Central American & Caribbean Games On Live Pay-Per-View.

The best of the 19th Central American & Caribbean Games, featuring the top athletes in soccer, boxing, and baseball from El Salvador, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba and 28 other Latin American countries, will be broadcast live from San Salvador through a pay-per-view and closed circuit telecast available on most cable and satellite systems November 23 through December 7.

The 15-day schedule of events kicks off with two preliminary soccer games November 23, followed by a much-anticipated match up between Mexico and Honduras November 24. Mexico takes the field again November 28 in a contest against Jamaica.

The exclusive, first-ever pay-per-view and closed circuit television broadcast of the Western Hemisphere’s oldest athletic competition includes 29 soccer, baseball, boxing, basketball, women’s volleyball, and track and field events. The Games will be broadcast with English and Spanish audio feeds (where available). A post-game highlights show will air daily on Fox Sports World ESPANOL.

“Fox Sports Net, in conjunction with the country of El Salvador, is pleased to put local sports fans right in the middle of the action of this historic sporting event that brings together more than 5,000 athletes from 32 nations,” said Gary Garcia, vice president, Fox Sports Enterprises Productions. “These Games will serve as a showcase for some of the top Olympic competitors from Central America and the Caribbean, and have served as a launching pad for many professional athletes.”

The Games were conceived during the eighth Olympics in Paris as a regional competition to be held every four years. The first Games were held in Mexico City in 1926. More than 10 Major League Baseball players from Puerto Rico have participated in the Games, as well as top-ranked boxers Wilfredo Benitez and Wilfredo Gomez.

The telecast schedule includes 10 preliminary soccer matches featuring powerhouses Colombia, El Salvador, Mexico, Cuba, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Jamaica, Honduras and Haiti, in addition to all quarter final and semi-final matches and the thrilling finale on December 7 to close the schedule.

The broadcast also includes preliminary baseball games between Puerto Rico and Cuba, and Mexico and Guatemala as well as the quarter, semi-final and final playoffs. Boxing and basketball enthusiasts can watch the final games on December 6. The finals for track and field will be broadcast on December 5.
