Mexican Soccer Awards.

The Mexican Soccer Federation and Fútbol de Primera announced the creation of the Mexican Soccer Awards, a new gala award ceremony for Hispanics living in the United States that will honor the most outstanding players in Mexico each year. The anticipation for and interest in the Mexican Soccer Awards among U.S. Hispanics and Mexicans will be comparable to Hollywood’s Academy Awards, Emmy, Grammy, ESPY and Golden Globe award ceremonies.

Organized by Fútbol de Primera and fully supported by the Mexican Soccer Federation, this annual event will become the official Mexican soccer award ceremony in the United States and generate a tremendous amount of interest and debate among the over 100 million Mexicans who live on both sides of the border. The winners of each award will be selected by a vote of Hispanic soccer journalists from all over the United States and will be unveiled during a gala ceremony at the most
glamorous hotel in Los Angeles, The Beverly Hilton.

Mexico’s most popular players will travel to Los Angeles for the ceremony and be joined at the festivities by other top soccer personalities from the U.S. and from all over the world. Given the presence of so many well-known soccer players, coaches and executives, the Mexican Soccer Awards will generate a very substantial amount of coverage from television, radio, newspaper and internet journalists.

Among the dozen awards that will be presented at the Mexican Soccer Award Ceremony include Mexican National Team Player of the Year, Mexican League Player of the Year, Mexican Coach of the Year and Mexican League Rookie of the Year. Additionally, Hispanics from all over the U.S. will be invited to directly participate in the awards by voting in a special fans choice award category.

“We are very honored to establish in conjunction with the Mexican Soccer Federation what will become the premier award ceremony for Mexican soccer in the U.S.,” said Alejandro Gutman, who together with Andres Cantor is the Co-Chairman of Fútbol de Primera. “Our experience for the last 12 years in developing the Honda Player of the Year Award to where it is now the most prestigious award a member of the U.S. National Team can receive, allows us to predict that this award program recognizing the best in Mexican soccer will achieve similar outstanding success. We are very happy that the Mexican Federation has given its complete support to this new and exciting project.”
