Univision Upfront 2006-2007.
April 22, 2006
Univision Communications Inc. unveiled the Univision Network’s programming schedule for the 2006-2007 season. Since December 2005, when Univision became the first Spanish-language network to be included in Nielsen’s National Television Index (NTI), Univision has outdelivered the audiences of at least one of the Big 4 networks on half of all nights among Adults 18-34.
“Univision is now competing in a new arena in which our ratings successes can be seen in the same playing field as that of the English-language networks. The Univision Network’s inclusion in NTI will continue to validate and reinforce our position as a major force in the overall American television landscape,” said Alina Falcon, Executive Vice President and Operating Manager, Univision Television Network. “We are entering the 2006-2007 season poised for greater success than ever before. Our blockbuster line-up of novelas includes one of the biggest international hits, ‘La Fea Mas Bella.’ Following the phenomenal success of the run-away hit dance competition ‘Bailando Por Un Sueno,’ the network will premiere ‘Cantando Por Un Sueno,’ where everyday people are paired with celebrities to sing, not for fame, but for the chance to have a very personal and noble dream realized. In addition, Univision will bring ‘Belleza Latina,’ a combination reality and beauty pageant show, where viewers will witness all the real life drama, both onstage and off, then actually participate in the selection process with the judges.”
“Univision is a fierce competitor in the overall U.S. broadcast television landscape,” said Tom McGarrity, Co-President, Network Sales. “In the current season and with the help of our inclusion in NTI, we have solidified our position right along with ABC, CBS, NBC & FOX during primetime among key demographics. As the Hispanic population’s buying power continues to grow rapidly, advertisers who are looking for alternative places for their dollars should look no further than the Univision Networks to connect with an engaged audience. We are able to provide advertisers with an array of media platforms to effectively reach this essential demographic.”
