Arana named Sports Anchor at Telemundo Chicago

Telemundo Chicago announced that Rodrigo Arana has been named sports anchor for Noticiero Telemundo Chicago at 5 PM and 10 PM. Arana, who will join Telemundo Chicago in December, will team up with co-anchors Alfonso Gutierrez and Anabel Monge, meteorologist Maricela Vazquez and a dynamic team of reporters to deliver local breaking news and the latest information about issues affecting Spanish-language viewers in the Chicago metropolitan area.

“We are very excited for Rodrigo to join Telemundo Chicago,” said Diana Maldonado, Vice President of News. “Rodrigo’s experience in covering major sporting events across the United States, Latin America and Mexico, will enhance our newscast and provide viewers with the best sports coverage possible. And now that Telemundo and mun2 are the official Spanish-language broadcasters of the FIFA World Cup™, Rodrigo’s expertise as a play-by-play announcer will be an asset for our news team and a benefit for our viewers.”

“I am honored and humbled at the opportunity of joining Telemundo Chicago,” said Arana. “I look forward to making Chicago my new home and reporting about the dynamic sports scene the viewers in the Windy City are following and talking about day-in and day-out.”

Previously, Arana worked for Fox Sports Latin America in Mexico City as a reporter, news editor and weekday sports anchor from 2006 to 2014. While at Fox Sports, Arana has covered the 2014 Sochi Olympics, seven World Series and five Super Bowls, among others. Arana holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City.
