Telemundo Deportes launches promotional effort for FIFA Confederations Cup 2017

Telemundo Deportes rolled out a six-month multiplatform promotional campaign for the kick-off of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 which will take place in Russia in June. The campaign includes a series of spots focusing on the FIFA confederations champions from around the world uniting with the host country and the current FIFA World Cup™ champion, for this highly anticipated tournament. Also, Telemundo Network’s daily properties “Un Nuevo Día,” “Suelta la Sopa,” “Noticiero Telemundo,” “Titulares y Más” and “Al Rojo Vivo con María Celeste” featured Telemundo Deportes acclaimed sportscasters Andrés Cantor, Sammy Sadovnik, Copán Alvarez, Carlos Hermosillo and Ana Jurka, speaking about what to expect from the biggest global soccer event of 2017.

“We are starting the countdown and the marketing effort to the most important soccer event of 2017, the FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017,” said Ray Warren, President of Telemundo Deportes. “We are eager to offer Hispanic viewers the best soccer in the world with the high quality production and expert commentary they have come to expect from Telemundo Deportes.”

Since 2005, the FIFA Confederations Cup has been held in the nation that will host the FIFA World Cup™ in the following year, in this case acting as a lead up to the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™. The tournament is played by eight teams including the six FIFA Confederations Champions, the host country and the winner of the previous FIFA World Cup™.  The Mexican national team will be playing against Portugal, New Zealand and Russia, in Group A. Group B will showcase Germany, Chile, Australia and the African National Cup winner (to be  determined).

The main venue at the Confederations Cup is the Saint Petersburg Stadium, which is where the Opening match between Russia and New Zealand will take place on Saturday, June 17 as well as the Final Match, scheduled for Sunday, July 2. Other venues include the Fisht Stadium in Sochi, famous as the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The award-winning team of Telemundo Deportes on-air talent is led by internationally renowned commentator Andres Cantor, accompanied by Sammy Sadovnik, Carlos Hermosillo, Copan Alvarez, Miguel Gurwitz, Edgar López, René  Giraldo, Manuel Sol, Karim Mendiburu, Ana Jurka, Leti Coo, Kaziro Aoyama and Rosina Grosso.
