The Hispanic Public Relations Association (HPRA) announced that Romina Bongiovanni, Vice President, Edelman Multicultural, is returning to lead the organization as President in 2007.

The final judging for the National Association of Hispanic Publications' José Martí Publishing Awards took place in New York this week.

Tribune Publishing announced the sale of Hoy New York, its Spanish-language daily newspaper, to ImpreMedia, LLC. The sale, which is expected to close during the first quarter of 2007, does not include the Hoy publications in Los Angeles and Chicago. Terms were not disclosed.

The Advertising Council announced that Alberto Rojas has joined the organization as Director, Corporate Communications. Mr. Rojas’ primary responsibility will be to lead the organization’s press outreach to the Hispanic community for its national public service advertising campaigns.

The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) announced the creation of the IAB Mobile Committee at the IAB Leadership Forum: Agency Summit. As an extension of the IAB's overall mission, to increase the share of advertising and marketing dollars that Interactive media captures in the marketplace, the IAB Mobile Committee will focus on developing mobile as a viable advertising platform for marketers and agencies.

The Association of National Advertisers today announced the finalists for the 2006 Multicultural Excellence Awards. Now in its sixth year, the awards recognize ANA member companies and marketers that have produced outstanding multicultural advertising campaigns that ran between June 2005 and May 2006.

Ronald J. Gordon was elected as the new President of the Independent Spanish Broadcasters Association (ISBA). Mr. Gordon is the founder and majority shareholder of ZGS Communications, Inc., a Hispanic-owned Spanish-language communications company with interest in television and radio stations, including the largest independent group of television stations affiliated with the Telemundo network.

The Association of National Advertisers (ANA) and its publisher, The Pohly Company, will debut its newly revamped member magazine, The Advertiser, on October 5, 2006, at the ANA’s Annual Masters of Marketing Conference in Orlando, FL.

The American Advertising Federation (AAF) announced the winners of the prestigious Mosaic Awards, which honor companies that are at the forefront of multicultural advertising. The number of entries for the 2006 awards increased dramatically, with 25 percent more compared to last year.
