Time Warner Cable Deportes announces plans to cover High School Sports.

Time Warner Cable Deportes announced its plans to provide a significant amount of in-depth coverage of local high school sports, including a weekly program that will showcase the stories of individual student athletes throughout Southern California. This unprecedented access comes as a result of the network’s partnership with the California Interscholastic Federation’s (CIF) Los Angeles City Section.

The network’s coverage of local high school sports will include live games produced by a dedicated production team. To complement and enhance high school game telecasts, Time Warner Cable Deportes created the original series “#LAPREPA.” #LAPREPA will air weekly on Monday nights at 7:00 p.m. and will profile the inspiring and often untold stories of young athletes and coaches from the community. The show premiered on October 2 and will be presented by the network’s special correspondent, Enrique Gutiérrez.

“There are so many kids in our community that are giving their best on the field and overcoming incredible challenges off the field that few see because no one is telling their story,” said Pablo F. Urquiza, Vice President of Time Warner Cable Deportes. “We are passionate and committed to sharing these stories with the viewers and families of Los Angeles.”

We are excited to see our youth celebrated across all of Southern California.”

Among the games that the network will telecast live this month are Lincoln vs. Marshall High School on October 12 and the “East LA Classic,” one of the oldest match-ups in the area, Roosevelt vs. Garfield on October 26. As one of the most high-profile sporting events in all of Los Angeles, Time Warner Cable Deportes’ telecast of this important local football rivalry will include a one-hour pre-game show, all of the half-time activity happening with local fans and families, as well as a complete post game wrap-up.

In addition to this coverage, Time Warner Cable Deportes’ sister network, Time Warner Cable SportsNet will telecast a number of games in San Diego area schools taking place throughout this month.
