GolTV expands broadcast rights to Mexican Ascenso MX League.

GolTV has expanded its broadcast rights agreement with Baral Group to air live matches from the Mexican Ascenso MX league through Clasura 2013-14. Ascenso MX has posted consecutive quarterly increases since its premiere on GolTV; more than doubling its viewers in key demos.

“GolTV’s renewal of Ascenso MX and other recent agreements from the region make the network the number one destination for top soccer from Latin and South America,” said Constantino Voulgaris, Executive Vice President of Programming and Business Development at GolTV. “As the status of international soccer and the Mexican-American population continues to grow in the U.S., GolTV will deliver live, HD matches that the deeply passionate fans of Ascenso teams demand.”

With the renewed agreement, GolTV will broadcast more than 60 matches per season; airing the top two matches every week. In addition, the new terms also gives the network the option to expand and add more matches as viewership grows leading to the playoffs and finals. Mexico’s Ascenso MX is one of the most aggressive and exiting leagues, as the top team of the season is promoted to the country’s top division.
