Lightcap named Head of Content & Southern Zone GM for Discovery Networks Latin America/US Hispanic.

Discovery Networks Latin America/US Hispanic (DLA/USH) announced the appointment of Carolina Lightcap to Head of Content for DLA/USH and General Manager for the Southern Cone, effective August 13, 2012. Lightcap will be based in Buenos Aires, Argentina and will report to Enrique R. Martínez, President and Managing Director for DLA/USH.

She also brings to Discovery a time-tested business acumen and demonstrated success in content strategy development and execution which will undoubtedly add value and contribute to the success of our constantly expanding business in Latin America and the US Hispanic markets,” said Enrique R. Martínez, President and Managing Director, Discovery Networks Latin America/US Hispanic.

Before joining DLA/USH, she served as President of Disney Channels Worldwide, where she provided leadership for Disney’s successful global kids TV business comprised of more than 100 kid-driven, family inclusive entertainment channels and feeds available in 169 countries and 35 languages. In this capacity, she led the successful launch of Disney Junior, a new global brand for kids age 2-7. Lightcap also drove Disney Channel and Disney XD to deliver at record ratings levels, while expanding the portfolio’s content development pipeline.
Before taking on the role of President of the company’s channels worldwide, Lightcap was Chief Marketing Officer for The Walt Disney Company, Latin America, for all lines of business in the region, including film, television and consumer products. At the same time, she served as Senior Vice President, Programming and Creative Affairs at Disney Channels Latin America. She was responsible for programming, production, on-air, marketing, research and publicity departments for Disney Channel, Disney XD and Playhouse Disney Channel (now Disney Junior) throughout the region.
Prior to joining Disney in 2000, Lightcap held executive positions at Sky Latin America, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and Fox Latin American Channels. Born in Buenos Aires, Lightcap holds a Bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and is fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese.
