After a four-month search for the new “Reportera Fox,” FOX Deportes is proud to announce that Marlene Alvarez from Whittier, CA, is the winner of the contest. This first-of-its-kind online contest to be conducted by a Spanish-language sports network received more than 3 million votes from fans across the country and gives longing female journalists the opportunity to cover a national sporting event for the network in front of millions of viewers.

“We are delighted to have awarded one of our fans with this unique experience,” explained Vincent Cordero, EVP and General Manager, FOX Deportes. “The overwhelming amount of votes received through this contest demonstrates the strong level of interest and engagement within our community to provide the latest in premium programming.”

“My dream has always been to mix my life-long passion for sports and television so I am grateful to FOX Deportes for helping me make this happen,” said Marlene Alvarez. “As the ‘Reportera Fox,’ I will be able to not only learn journalism skills that will help me get to the next level but also get other women excited about sports.”

“Reportera Fox” provided aspiring female reporters with the opportunity to audition for the Spanish-language sports network. The top ten finalists were chosen by FOX Deportes executives. Afterwards the finalist videos where uploaded to the FOX Deportes website for viewers to vote online for their favorite.
