Zaslav and Bastón Patiño join Univision Board.

Univision Communications Inc. announced that David Zaslav, president and CEO of Discovery Communications, and José Bastón Patiño, president of Television and Content for Grupo Televisa, S.A.B. , have been elected to its Board of Directors.

José Bastón Patiño has served as president of Television and Content of Grupo Televisa, S.A.B., one of the largest Spanish-speaking media companies, since December 2008. He has also been a member of the Grupo Televisa Board of Directors since April 1999 and is a member of its Executive Committee. Prior to 2008, Bastón held multiple roles of increasing responsibility at Grupo Televisa, including: Corporate Vice President of Television, Vice President of Operations and general director of Programming. He has also served as a Director of Innova, S. de R.L. de C.V., the leading satellite pay television platform in Mexico and Central America, since 2000.
 
Since January 2007, David Zaslav has served as president and CEO of Discovery Communications, the world’s number one nonfiction media company. Previously, Zaslav had a distinguished career of almost 20 years at NBC Universal, holding positions of increasing authority, including serving as president of Cable and Domestic TV and New Media Distribution and playing critical roles in the development and launches of CNBC and MSNBC. Before joining NBC, Zaslav was an attorney with the New York firm of LeBouef, Lamb, Leiby & MacRae.  Zaslav serves on the boards of the National Cable & Telecommunications Association, The Cable Center, Center for Communication, the Ad Council, and Skills for America’s Future. He also is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Paley Center for Media, the Mt. Sinai Medical Center and previously served as an adjunct professor at Fordham University.
