Vme to broadcast Los Pilares de la Tierra.

Vme launches the U.S. Spanish-language premiere of the award-winning eight-part miniseries Los Pilares de la Tierra (Pillars of the Earth), on Monday, March 26 at 10:00 p.m. (ET/PT). An intense, action-packed drama, Los Pilares de la Tierra paints a rich portrait of the fictional, medieval town of Kingsbridge, England. Based on the bestselling novel by Ken Follett, this is an epic story about good and evil, treachery and intrigue, and violence and beauty which boasts an all star cast featuring Ian McShane as Waleran Bigod, Donald Sutherland as Earl Bartholomew, Rufus Sewell as Tom Builder, Matthew Macfadyen as Prior Philip and Tony Curran as King Stephen.

Los Pilares de la Tierra is a cautionary tale about the dangers of unchecked power, holy aspiration and earthly skullduggery as various characters build monuments to God, fight for titles, feather their nests and fall in love. The story begins with the English throne in turmoil. King Henry’s only legitimate son has died, leaving Henry’s daughter, his nephew and his bastard son to compete for rule. Greedily jockeying for advancement in this treacherous atmosphere is the Hamleigh family, petty nobles trying to marry their brutal son William to Aliena, daughter of Earl Bartholomew of Shiring. Her refusal of William leaves him burning for revenge against her father and brother. Helped by his scheming mother, William is instrumental in the Earl’s execution for treason and brutalizing both Aliena and her brother, driving them orphaned and penniless out into the world.

The $40 million epic is directed by three-time DGA award winner Sergio Mimica-Gezzan (Falling Skies, Heroes, Into the West), was produced by TANDEM Communications, MUSE Entertainment and in association with SCOTT FREE Films.
