GolTV renews rights to Brasileirão.

GolTV has renewed its multimedia rights agreement with Globo TV to air coverage of Brasileirão, Brazil’s premier championship soccer league, and Campeonato Paulista, the nation’s elite and longest standing soccer league.

“This renewal allows GolTV to air the Brazilian league matches through 2015,” said Constantino Voulgaris, Executive Vice President of Programming and Business Development at GolTV. “GolTV also is producing a new highlights show capturing the most exciting moments from Brasileirão and Campeonato Paulista, making GolTV the top destination for Brazilian soccer fans across North America.”

This renewal comes at a time when all eyes turn to Brazil as they prepare to host the 2014 World Cup. According to Voulgaris, Brazil soccer fans are some of the most passionate in the world. “For Brazilians, soccer is more than a sport. It is a way of life,” he says. “GolTV is the only place for obsessed soccer fans to find the top matches, world class commentary and online community they crave.”

“GolTV is the perfect partner for Globo TV because they understand true soccer passion,” says Raphael Correa Netto, Head of international sales at Globo TV. “We look forward to sharing the best of international soccer with fans across the North America.”
