Julissa Marenco, President of ZGS Communications Station Group, was recognized by the Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) at their 60th Anniversary Luncheon on November 3 at the Marriott Marquis in New York. The AWM honored 60 women in media who have most inspired the industry with their work on-air, behind the scenes, in management, production, programming, and across all forms of media. Marenco was honored as one of the next generation of inspiring women poised to make an impact and named one of 6@Sixty to Watch Rising Stars. The event program included a retrospective of AWM’s past 60 years as well as a tribute to AWM’s Sixty@60. Honorees were chosen based on their achievements, dedication, authenticity and commitment to advancing the industry.
Marenco has overseen the ZGS Station Group, the largest group of independent stations affiliated with the Telemundo television network, since April of 2009. Prior to her position, Ms. Marenco was appointed by the President of the United States to serve as a White House Fellow, a non-partisan program which is renowned as America’s most prestigious program for leadership and public service. Previously, she served as the General Manager of WZDC Telemundo Washington, DC, a ZGS owned and operated station. She began her media career with Blair Television in New York.
“This is a well-deserved honor. We are very proud of Julissa, her accomplishments and her contributions to our company, industry and community,” said Eduardo Zavala, Vice-Chairman of ZGS Communications and President of Digital, Broadcast and News Operations.
