October 3, 2011
On Sunday, November 6th WSCV / Telemundo 51 will premiere its first “Enfoque Miami” (Focus on Miami) public affairs show. The program will focus on the political candidates and issues that during the next twelve months will hold the attention of voters everywhere, with a particular emphasis on topics of importance to Hispanics in South Florida.
“At Telemundo 51 we have a responsibility to provide our viewers with the most complete and relevant information so that they can make informed decisions and that is why we are expanding our political coverage within our regularly scheduled 6pm and 11pm newscasts, and strengthening our political brand with the launch of “Enfoque Miami,” said Manuel Martinez, Telemundo 51 President and General Manager.
“The first edition of “Enfoque Miami” will be hosted by the station’s news anchor Ambrosio Hernandez and focuses on the new South Florida Hispanic voter and the 2012 election,” stated Helga Silva, Telemundo 51 Vice President of News and Content. “The results of the 2010 U.S. Census, redistricting, voter registration initiatives, and issues such as the economy and immigration, all lead us to question who the Hispanic voters in South Florida are heading into 2012 and what their impact will be at the local, state and national levels,” added Silva.
Joining Ambrosio Hernandez on November 6th as the political analyst for “Enfoque Miami” will be Manny Diaz, former City of Miami Mayor and a force in local, state and national politics for nearly thirty years. With them providing the Republican and Democratic points of view in the discussion will be Juan Carlos Bermudez, Mayor of the City of Doral and Executive Board member of the Miami Dade League of Cities, and Freddy Balsera, Managing Partner of Balsera Communications and Democratic strategist recently nominated to the United States Advisory Commission on Public Affairs.
“Enfoque Miami” will air the first Sunday of every month at 11:30am on WSCV / Telemundo 51.
