Rolón named VP of ESPN Deportes Programming and Business Initiatives.

Freddy Rolón has been promoted to Vice President of ESPN Deportes Programming and Business Initiatives.  In his new role, Rolón will lead the ESPN Deportes programming team while retaining responsibility for the ESPN Deportes Radio and the ESPN DeportesLA.com businesses.  He will be based at ESPN’s worldwide headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut, and report to Lino Garcia, General Manager of ESPN Deportes.

“For the past seven years, Freddy has successfully overseen the growth and expansion of the ESPN Deportes Radio network, and the development of the local .com business,” said Garcia. “We are excited to have him bring his valuable experience and leadership to our programming efforts.”

Rolón most-recently served as Senior Director II, ESPN Deportes Radio and Business Initiatives, where he was part of the launch team behind ESPN’s local sites.  Rolón began his ESPN career as an intern for ESPN International in the summer of 2003.   After completing his MBA he joined ESPN in August 2004 as a Senior Manager of marketing for ESPN Deportes.  He was promoted to Senior Director, Marketing and Integration of ESPN Radio (2005-2007), where he oversaw all the marketing efforts for ESPN Radio and ESPN Deportes Radio.  Rolón then was appointed Senior Director II, Strategic Initiatives and Marketing, ESPN Radio (2007-2008), adding oversight of ESPN Deportes Radio; during that time, he was selected to lead ESPN’s company-wide initiative to better serve the Hispanic sports fans through improved internal communication, collaboration and interdepartmental team development.
