Rentrak premieres Hispanic OnDemand advertising intelligence report.

Rentrak Corporation announced the first in a series of OnDemand Essentials Advertising Reports that will provide an aggregated look at performance reporting for the video-on-demand (VOD) platform which is a first for the industry.

“Interest in advertising in the on-demand TV platform is growing as advertisers are starting to understand that it is a tremendously powerful targeted advertising platform,” said Bill Livek, CEO of Rentrak. “Working with our network clients, Rentrak’s Advertising Report will help meet the needs of the advertising community and help increase advertising dollars to the VOD platform.”

Rentrak’s Advertising Report ranks networks by their current month’s performance metrics with the first Advertising Report focusing on the Hispanic Category and will be based on January 2011 usage data from over 60% of Rentrak’s OnDemand Essentials Hispanic network clients.

“The growth of VOD speaks to the fact that it is no longer an experimental technology, but rather a widely accepted platform for the consumption of Spanish-language entertainment content,” said Tonia O’Connor, President, Distribution Sales and Marketing, Univision Communications, Inc. “Programmers have lacked the measurement tools that would enable us to fully integrate the platform into our business models, which is why transparency in reporting is so important to the category’s long-term viability. Univision welcomes the opportunity to participate in Rentrak’s Advertising Report and looks forward to collaborating on this ongoing effort to support our partners with our best-of-class content on the VOD platform.”

“VOD is an important part of Cinelatino’s content offering and we are excited to be among the first Hispanic channels to make our VOD rankings transparent,” said Sandra Austin, Chief Financial Officer of Cinelatino. “Having a transparent view of the Hispanic category will allow Cinelatino to deliver its VOD viewers the best experience possible and build a road to ad-supported content.”
