Telemundo strengthens News Team.

Telemundo announced the addition of new talent to its network news division. Enrique Acevedo will join as Miami correspondent, Julio Vaqueiro as Mexico correspondent and Nayeli Chávez-Geller as New York correspondent. In addition, Rogelio Mora-Tagle will now be based in Miami at the headquarters of the network news division. All talent will join the network news division effective January 18 and will work across all news properties including Al Rojo Vivo, Noticiero Telemundo and digital platforms.

Each one of them brings a particular knowledge and understanding of our audience, as well as a vast journalistic experience that will strengthen our news gathering and reporting capabilities across all media platforms.”
Acevedo joins Telemundo from Televisa in Mexico City where he was an anchor and reporter. Most recently he hosted La Otra Agenda (The Other Agenda), a daily news program on Televisa’s 24 hour cable news channel, ForoTV. Enrique was also a correspondent for Televisa’s investigative news magazine “Los Reporteros.” He has been a substitute anchor for key Televisa news programs including the network’s morning newscast, Primero Noticias, and worked as senior reporter for Televisa’s special investigations bureau. Prior to his time at Televisa, Enrique was national affairs reporter at Grupo Reforma, publisher of Mexico’s leading newspaper and one of the most influential publications in Latin America. Enrique holds a BA in International Relations from El Tecnológico de Monterrey and a Master’s degree in Journalism from Columbia University in New York. In 2007 and again in 2009 he was awarded the national journalism award presented by Mexico’s National Press Club. He writes a weekly column for Mexican daily La Razón and serves as a member of the editorial advisory committee for the London based online newspaper, The Periscope Post. Enrique was born in Durango, Mexico and raised in Mexico City.
Mora-Tagle, whose expertise expands over 20 years, relocates to Miami from his correspondent position in Mexico City. His career with Telemundo includes Noticiero Telemundo, Cada Dia, Hoy en el Mundo and anchoring Noticiero Telemundo Fin de Semana. He has collaborated with specialized columns for newspapers El País (Mexico Edition), and El Diario Marcador. In Mexico City he worked for radio station Nucleo Radio Mil (NRM) as the Sports Bureau Chief. Mora-Tagle began his television career at CBS Telenoticias where he worked as sports anchor before transferring to the news division. The Mexico City native earned his Bachelor’s degree from the School of Journalism Carlos Septien Garcia in Mexico City.
For the past two years, Chavez-Geller has been a free-lance reporter for CNN en Español, Univision and Anews, based in New York City. Previously, she was the New York correspondent for Univision’s Primer Impacto for nearly six years. She got her start as assistant producer at Univision’s news magazine Aqui Y Ahora. Chavez-Geller has a degree in Broadcast Journalism from New York’s City University in New York City. She was born and raised in Oaxaca, Mexico and moved to New York when she was 16-years old.
Vaqueiro began his journalistic career in Mexico in the “El Sol de San Juan” newspaper in 2003. He then worked with Grupo Editorial Expansion as a reporter and web writer and with Efekto TV as a writer, reporter and news anchor. Vaqueiro holds a Communications degree from the University of Anahuac, Mexico.
