Rodriguez named Executive VP, Multimedia Development and Distribution at Telemundo.

Telemundo announced that Michael Rodriguez has been named Executive Vice President, Multimedia Development and Distribution, Telemundo. The announcement was made by Telemundo President Don Browne, to whom Rodriguez will report directly. Rodriguez will remain in his role as head of network sales until a replacement is named.

In this new position, Rodriguez will work closely with the network’s senior management team to identify new business initiatives and alternative revenue streams across the company’s platforms, coordinating with all units in support of these new efforts. He will build new relationships and strategic alliances with external companies to create new markets for Telemundo and create and oversee implementation of strategies that will maximize the development of Telemundo’s non-channel related properties and ancillary businesses. Ann Gaulke, SVP of Affiliate Relations, will continue in her role overseeing affiliate relations and will now report into Rodriguez.

“Mike has been an integral member of the Telemundo management team, leading our network sales organization through continuous growth over the last three years,” said Browne. “As we move into a period of intense change and increased competition, he will provide the senior team and me with a critical function that will draw on his exceptional expertise in Spanish-language radio, general market, Spanish-language TV and Network Sales.”

“I want to join Don in congratulating Mike in his new role. During this transition period, he will continue to oversee network sales and we will immediately begin a search for his successor,” said Jacqueline Hernandez, COO, Telemundo.

Prior to this role, Rodriguez held the post of Senior Vice President of Sales for Telemundo, where he was responsible for the sales and marketing efforts for the Telemundo network, mun2, and the network’s digital properties. Previously, he was Vice President and General Manager at Telemundo 51/WSCV, where he led the station to an unprecedented #1 position in the Miami market across several key ratings periods, regardless of language. Prior to that, Rodriguez spent five years as the local sales manager at WFOR, the CBS television station in Miami. His previous sales experience includes roles at both the Hispanic Broadcasting Company and the Spanish Broadcasting System.
