AT&T Awards the ASPIRA Association $50,000 Through Univision’s Mira Quien Baila TV Show.

The ASPIRA Association (nonprofit organization dedicated to education) was proud to receive a $50,000 donation on behalf of AT&T, corporate sponsor of Univision’s TV dance competition “Mira Quien Baila!” (Look Who’s Dancing) on Sunday night during its final dance competition. “Mira Quien Baila!” paired ten of the most loved Hispanic celebrities with amateur dancers to perform an array of rhythms. Due to his commitment to the education of Hispanics, celebrity young actor and contestant Vadhir Derbez selected ASPIRA as the charity of his choice. Due to his skills as a dancer and charisma, Vadhir was selected by the jury and the vote of the audience as the winner of the dance contest. A group of students from ASPIRA of Florida (one of the 8 affiliates ASPIRA has across the nation), were present at the final show together with Aymet Chaples, Interim Executive Director and John Villamil, Executive VP of the ASPIRA Association located in Washington DC who accepted the award on behalf of the organization.

“This is a wonderful development for ASPIRA. We are so grateful to Vahdir Debrez for selecting ASPIRA as his charity, and to AT&T for its generous sponsorship. We also want to thank Univision Communications for developing a show that benefits community organizations,” said Ronald Blackburn-Moreno, ASPIRA’s President and CEO. “ASPIRA will utilize the award to support its educational programs, including its national youth leadership program. This award will allow ASPIRA to reach many more Latino students to set them on the path to college.”
