WAPA Television 2011 Upfront

WAPA Television in Puerto Rico, previewed its new programming for 2011 at the 2011 Upfront, which took place at the Puerto Rican Convention Center in San Juan on November 10, 2010.

During the presentation, WAPA announced a slate of new programming for the new year, which includes a mix of locally-produced reality shows and original programming, as well as top-rated series and movies from the U.S.—a successful combination of programming that has propelled WAPA into the number one position in the Puerto Rican television market.

WAPA will be the proud home of new reality shows, including the launch of ‘American Idol Puerto Rico,’ one of the most ambitious and important projects in the network’s history. The program will be co-produced by FreemantleMedia, producers of the original groundbreaking reality show competition, and will follow the same format as the original ‘America Idol,’ but featuring Puerto Rican talent.

WAPA will launch a second season of the groundbreaking series, “Transformacion Total” (Total Transformation), the station’s original reality show competition that dramatically transformed the lives of 15 Puerto Rican contestants who lived and trained in a house together while undergoing nutritional and psychological counseling by a team of professionals. The station has plans to make the second season, which will be hosted by Puerto Rican novella and movie actress, Katiria Soto, even more exciting.

Among the mix of original programming, WAPA will launch a new series produced by and starring celebrated Puerto Rican comedian Sunshine Logrono, as well as an innovative female-focused detective show called “Factor Mujer” (Female Factor).

The station will continue to transmit an assortment of the newest and best-rated series from the U.S., including ‘The Event,’ ‘Hawaii 5-0,’ ‘Criminal Minds,’ ‘Nikita,’ ‘Grey’s Anatomy,’ and ‘CSI’ as well as major Hollywood box office hits, including ‘Wanted,’ ‘Angels & Demons,’ ‘2012,’ ‘Body of Lies,’ ‘Terminator Salvation,’ ‘Mamma Mia,’ ‘Fast and the Furious,’ and ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine.’
