“As title sponsors, we are proud of our continued commitment to such an important program for the Hispanic community”
The 22 players selected during the 2010 national scouting tour of “El Sueño de tu Vida” will participate in the third edition of the Verizon National All-Star Game, with the hope of securing a spot with a Mexican professional team or with the MLS. The finalists will face Chivas de Guadalajara Second Division U-20 at Titan Stadium (Cal State Fullerton) on Saturday, September 25th at 7:00 pm. This match is the culmination of the 10-city tour held over the past seven months by Alianza de Futbol Hispano and Fox Sports en Español. Erick Venegas, an “El Sueño de tu Vida” alum who became a professional player after trying out in the Phoenix edition of “Sueño”, will play for Chivas in the final.
As of 2008, 17 players have signed contracts with professional teams in Mexico, more than 150 have been invited to tryout with professional clubs and four players have been recruited to represent their national teams in the United States, Mexico and Honduras.
“‘El Sueño de tu Vida’ continues to provide opportunities for Hispanic soccer players in the US. It is very satisfying to know that there are many talented players in the country who are seizing the opportunity of fulfilling their dreams of becoming professional soccer players,” said Brad Rothenberg, founder of BRC Group and Alianza de Futbol Hispano. “Thanks to our sponsors, Alianza de Futbol Hispano and ‘El Sueño de tu Vida’ continue to be the most important programs in the US focused on the search for emerging soccer talent.”
The 22 finalists will be pushed to the limit during practices and will be coached by many of the top recruiters from Mexico and the US, including: Jorge Domínguez, Director of Scouting at Chivas de Guadalajara; José Luis Gonzélez China, former U17 Mexican team coach and Club America legend; and José Enrique Vaca, Director of Schools for Club America.
This year, over 4,000 young players participated in the tryouts held in Phoenix, Houston, Atlanta, New York, Chicago, Miami, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco and El Paso. The finalists of “El Sueño de tu Vida” represent the most talented and promising participants of the tour. Each player will have one final week to display their talent and soccer abilities to the scouts.
“As title sponsors, we are proud of our continued commitment to such an important program for the Hispanic community,” said Vincent Cordero, Executive Vice President and General Manager at Fox Sports en Español. “This program allows us to reach our subscribers on a grassroots level, and serve our loyal viewers while making a difference in the community that consistently tunes in to our network.”
