CONCACAF renews partnership with Futbol de Primera. for 2011 Gold Cup.

CONCACAF announced that Fútbol de Primera (FDP) will be the exclusive Spanish-language radio broadcaster of the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup. FDP, the United States’ leading Hispanic sports radio network and an official radio outlet of the FIFA World Cup, will broadcast the Gold Cup for the third consecutive time over its 100-plus affiliated stations across the country with famed sports announcer Andrés Cantor handling the play-by-play.

The CONCACAF Gold Cup, which will be played June 5-25, is a 12-team competition that crowns the region’s top national team. The 2011 winner will qualify for the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup as CONCACAF’s representative. The Confederations Cup is another of FDP’s exclusive radio properties.

“Fútbol de Primera is the optimal radio partner for the Gold Cup” CONCACAF Deputy General Secretary Italo Zanzi said. ‘In addition to their extensive distribution, Andres Cantor’s insightful and exciting call gives listeners a unique and compelling experience.’

Fútbol de Primera, which reaches 90 percent of the Hispanic market in the United States, is the home for many of the most important soccer radio properties in the United States and the world, including the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and all Mexican national team games from 2011-2014. Cantor’s daily Programa Diaro is the longest-running nationally distributed Spanish-language radio show of its kind and is about to celebrate its 21st consecutive year on the air.

“We at FDP are honored to confirm our partnership with CONCACAF, which began many years ago. Fútbol de Primera proudly has been the official and exclusive home for the Gold Cup and we are proud to be able to broadcast exclusively next summer’s most important radio property in the Hispanic world,” said Cantor, who is also the chairman of Fútbol de Primera.
