MEXICANAL celebrates Mexico’s Independence Bicentennial.

On September 15, Mexico will ring in its Independence Bicentennial with a historic celebration. Capturing the excitement, magic and richness of Mexican culture, the MEXICANAL Network is proud to bring live coverage of these festivities-along with an array of special programming, PSAs and promotions-to its viewers in the United States. The Spanish-language channel prides itself in entertaining and informing the growing population of Mexicans who now live in the US, but desire to keep connected to their home towns and heritage.

MEXICANAL joins the contingent of major Mexican television networks presenting a unified signal of the official celebration as it happens live. The day’s events feature a majestic parade as well as the musical performances of super-star artists. Coverage begins September 15 at 4PM PT/6PM CT.

The MEXICANAL Network will also offer its viewers an exclusive premiere, airing the TV series “Genesis de Una Nacion” (The Genesis of a Nation) at 2PM PT/4PM CT, just before MEXICANAL’s live coverage. Taped in Guanajuato, “Genesis de Una Nacion” is special program during which researchers and historians share anecdotes and events that have shaped Mexico’s course since the conquest of the Aztec empire to the present day.

“The Independence Bicentennial is an important milestone for all Mexicans, regardless of where they live,” said Maruchi Urquiaga, MEXICANAL’s General Manager. “That’s why we’re especially pleased at the opportunity to share this historic event with our viewers in the United States.”
