Macy’s celebrates El Encanto Latino.

Commemorating National Hispanic Heritage Month, Macy’s will help customers find their own magic through living well, looking fantastic and feeling fabulous. In recognition of the contributions to society by Hispanic Americans from art to science, Macy’s joins in celebration with events across the nation that will empower and delight participants. Featuring discussions on family, heritage and health, Macy’s Encanto Latino will leave participants with important tools to better their lives.

“An empowering call to action, Macy’s El Encanto Latino events will help celebrate Latino culture and contributions while also giving participants the tools to live healthier. As a corporate citizen and one with a large population of Hispanic employees and customers, we are excited to once again bring the magic of Latino culture to life in our stores through celebrations that shine a spotlight on style, culinary and cultural traditions,” said Corliss Fong, Macy’s vice president of Diversity Strategies.

During Hispanic Heritage Month, Macy’s will host special in-store events at select stores across the nation including locations in Miami; Denver; Santa Ana, CA; Chicago; San Francisco; Wheaton, MD; San Antonio; Houston; Los Angeles, and New York City.

Macy’s El Encanto Latino events will empower participants to live well, look fantastic and feel fabulous by creating an engaging program hosted by inspirational speakers including Barbara Trujillo Gómez, Lilly Mucarsel, Evelina Solis and Luz Maria Briseño. Each moderator will create a dialogue with participants around the importance of empowering oneself to succeed via positive thinking, fitness and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. These are all important tools that can empower the entire family unit, a central element of Latino culture. In addition to featuring discussions on family, tradition, heritage, and healthy living, participants will enjoy beauty demonstrations by Lancôme of fall trends, colors and makeup tips. The centerpiece of the events is Macy’s national partnership with the American Heart Association’s Go Red Por Tu Corazón, a bilingual movement that is raising awareness of heart disease among Hispanic women. Heart disease is the #1 cause of death among Hispanic women. In fact, research shows that Hispanic women are likely to develop heart disease 10 years earlier than Caucasian women. American Heart Association representatives will be on hand to educate customers about the importance of practicing a heart healthy lifestyle for themselves and their family. One of the main opportunities to change habits is through healthy eating. By modifying traditional recipes to be more heart healthy, risks of heart disease can be lowered. Participants will learn ways to modify recipes and have the opportunity to taste these traditional foods that have been adapted with a healthy twist.
