Rodriguez – Director of Sports Marketing at Mega TV.

Spanish Broadcasting System Inc., (“SBS”) announced the appointment of Rene Rodriguez to Director of Sports Marketing for Mega TV. Mr. Rodriguez, a successful sports media executive, will be responsible for leading the popular network’s expansion into the sports category by building a new sports department inside Mega TV.

“Rene is the perfect fit to lead our entry into the sports category, and we welcome him to the team,” said Albert Rodriguez, General Manager for Mega TV. “Adding a sports department is a natural progression for our growing network, and having a multiplatform broadcasting strategy boosts viewership, engagement, traffic and revenues. Our goal is to not only create a division that will show our audiences the sports they love, but also portray good value, teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play.”

Prior to joining Mega TV, Mr. Rodriguez was the Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Inter-Forever Sports, Inc. (now known as Traffic Sports USA). In this role, he helped build the Latin American soccer marketing company’s presence in the U.S. and is credited with building mass distribution for events like Copa America, Copa Oro, Copa Libertadores and World Cup qualifiers on Univision, Fox Sports, and ESPN, among others. He also helped develop Closed-Circuit and Pay-Per-View as alternate distribution vehicles for these major sporting events.

Before that, he was a Group Management Supervisor for Premier Maldonado, Account Supervisor for Noble & Asociados and Brand Manager for Procter & Gamble.

“This is an incredibly exciting opportunity and a great fit for my background,” said Rodriguez. “Our goal is to deliver the best and most popular sports to Mega TV’s audience while providing advertisers with an accommodating and results-oriented environment.”
