Telemundo’s Don Browne receives IRS Excellence Award.

Telemundo President Don Browne was awarded the IRS Excellence Award yesterday morning at the network’s headquarters in Hialeah, Florida. The award presentation was made by Wage & Investment Division Commissioner, Rick Byrd, Jr.
In keeping with its long time mission to inform, empower, inspire and entertain, for the past 20 years, Telemundo has aired, Los Impuestos y Usted, a one-hour special focused on educating U.S. Hispanics about taxes. The program assists Spanish-speaking taxpayers accurately file their federal income tax returns and claim valuable tax credits and deductions they are due, thus making the process a little easier to navigate.
“We take great pride in our commitment to the network’s mission of informing, empowering, inspiring and entertaining our audiences,” said Browne. “Telemundo’s programming incorporates public service and social causes into our original productions, that are relevant and affect the lives of U.S. Hispanics. It is an honor to be recognized by the Wage & Investment Division for our work in educating our viewers about the U.S. tax system and providing the necessary information for them to better understand the process.”
Telemundo’s Executive Vice President of Programming, Adriana Ibañez, and Telemundo news anchor, Monica Noguera, were also acknowledged for their contributions to bringing the special to broadcast.
The IRS Excellence Award recognizes Telemundo’s role in delivering critical information about the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and other important federal tax issues to Spanish-speaking taxpayers.
