February 25, 2010
Vanidades is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2010. Launched in 1961 and published by Televisa Publishing & Digital, Vanidades became the first Spanish-language women’s lifestyle magazine in the United States. Paving the way for other Spanish-language publications, in creating newsstand distribution as well as breaking the traditional stereotypes of the level of sophistication amongst Hispanic women through relevant biweekly editorial content, Vanidades today has transformed itself as the most read* Spanish-language women’s magazine in the US Hispanic market and Latin America.
“Vanidades has had a significant impact on Hispanic and Latin American women’s lives. Women of all ages read the magazine because that’s a name they have been familiar with throughout their lives,” said Madelin Bosakewich, US and International Sales Director of Televisa Publishing & Digital. “We are extremely proud we have been on this journey alongside them for 50 years. I don’t think any magazine in the market has accomplished what Vanidades has.”
