Mexicanal adds to MX24 Noticias.

The MEXICANAL Network has added more muscle to its popular original news program, “MX24 Noticias.” The multi-platform Spanish-language network has tapped seasoned reporter Cecilia Méndez as an anchor of its newscast, joining Raúl Espinoza on a redesigned set.

The half-hour show, which airs Monday through Friday at 6:30 p.m. Pacific, 8:30 p.m. Central, also includes new segments such as “Por Nuestra Tierra” (Through our Land), which treks through Mexico’s beautiful landscapes and towns; and “Censo 2010,” that provides valuable information about the 2010 US Census.

In addition to regional news from Mexico, “MX24 Noticias” covers national and international news and offers advice from an immigration lawyer.

A second edition of “MX24 Noticias” will debut in January 2010, with 30 additional minutes of regional news. It will air at 10:00 p.m. Pacific.

“We created ‘MX24 Noticias’ to be the ultimate resource for Mexicans seeking news from their hometowns,” said Maria Urquiaga, MEXICANAL’s Vice President and General Manager. “We’re very pleased to build on our success by delivering more of what our viewers want—the most complete regional news from Mexico and the latest national and international information.”

Launched in November 2007, “MX24 Noticias” broke new ground as the first all-Mexican regional newscast to air in the United States and Mexico, its content culled from a network of correspondents and affiliates in both countries.
