Over 10,000 Univision fans celebrate Lo Mejor On Demand in Times Square.
October 2, 2009
Time Warner Cable and Univision Communications, Inc. announced that more than 10,000 revelers gathered in Times Square, at the heart of New York City, as they greet the official launch of Lo Mejor On Demand (LMOD), Time Warner Cable’s first Hispanic Free On Demand (FOD) channel. Through LMOD, Time Warner Digital Cable customers now have 24/7 instant access to the “crème-de-la-crème” of Spanish-language programming from top networks including Univision, TeleFutura and Galavisión.
This first-of-its kind event brought two leading entertainment and media companies together to connect with consumers with a full day of events including live broadcasts of popular shows from the Univision and TeleFutura networks, including the morning show “Despierta América” (Wake-Up America), and entertainment shows “Escándalo TV” (ShowBiz TV) and “El Gordo y La Flaca” (The Scoop and The Skinny). Fans were also treated to live music from top Latin stars, including a “Despierta América” performance by Paulina Rubio, capped off with songs by Lupillo Rivera and for the first time-ever the contestants competing in Univision’s primetime reality music series, “¡Viva El Sueño!” (Live the Dream!), performed together. The thousands in attendance made for this event to be one of the largest Hispanic events Times Square has seen.
On-air talent was joined by executives from Time Warner Cable and Univision, who spent much of the day connecting directly with consumers in attendance, thanking them for their loyalty to Univision, talking with them about LMOD and demonstrating the easy-to-use technology on big-screen televisions located throughout Times Square. Among the executives participating in the event were Sam Howe, chief marketing officer, Time Warner Cable, and Joe Uva, president and CEO, Univision Communications, Inc.
Highlights from the Times Square event can be viewed via LMOD, which is available to Time Warner Digital Cable (including El Paquetazo) customers in New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, San Antonio, El Paso and San Diego, among other Time Warner Cable markets. The Univision Network programming available on LMOD ranges from the most popular shows like “Cristina,” “Escándalo TV” (ShowBiz TV), “Sábado Gigante” (Giant Saturday), “República Deportiva” (Sports Republic), “Nuestra Belleza Latina” (Our Latin Beauty), “Premios Juventud” (Youth Awards) and “Don Francisco Presenta” (Don Francisco Presents), to exclusive behind the scenes footage and much more.
