Terra announces innovation and alliances at Orbita US 2009.

Terra united guests and industry experts on October 13th, at Orbita US 2009. Hosted at the remarkable New Museum in New York, the event includes special appearances from three-time Oscar winning director Oliver Stone; Media Economist Jack Myers; actor Mario Lopez; Olympic Medalist Dara Torres, and legendary basketball player Earl Monroe.

Terra’s executive team announced innovative product launches and alliances. “This combination of new content and services will bring the US audience the most innovative products currently enjoyed by over 70 million users throughout the world”, said Fernando Madeira, Terra’s CEO.

Year-to-date achievements and the announcement of partnerships with the NBA, MLB, Facebook and Nokia were unveiled. “These new products and partnerships will allow users to have all of their digital tools integrated into a single destination”, added Madeira.

o Terra Sports: 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games, World Soccer

Terra will expand its investment in sports programming through new partnerships that will ensure their users receive exciting live broadcasts and coverage of highly-touted sports events on a global scale.

At Orbita US, Terra announced exclusive agreements with two sports giants: The National Basketball Association and Major League Baseball.

In 2010, Terra will cover the Vancouver Olympics Games and the World Soccer at the same level of excellence demonstrated by the coverage of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

o Mobile access for Terra’s multimedia content: Nokia

The multiple device convergence is a reality for Terra’s content and services. The possibility of people accessing content in real time from different places and platforms is already an amazing reality: 85% of Terra’s audience considers their mobile phone as their primary phone line.

Mobile phone giant Nokia has established an agreement with Terra. The head of Nokia’s Forum will present pioneering Terra widgets on the N97. These applications allow users to access Terra’s local multimedia content (Breaking News) from anywhere with just one click. Terra’s widgets work as links to simplify access and allow the users customize the content they want to receive.

o Innovation from Terra US: Facebook Connect, Sonora and Tbox

This year, Terra announced updates in content and design. The project, called “Átomo”, was produced in partnership with Razorfish. This redesign enriched the navigational experience and made it possible for Terra to create and offer users the latest generation of multimedia content and launch ground-breaking products like Tbox and Sonora.

Tbox is compatible with Gmail, Yahoo! Mail and Terra Mail, and organizes emails from these various services into a single inbox where users can compose, view and respond to messages. Tbox allows users to unite friends into a single contact list from Facebook and MySpace, as well as followers from Twitter. Facilitating the way information is shared among Internet users, Tbox gathers photos, status updates and blog postings so all can be sent to friends with just a click. “Tbox is a powerful resource for our users’ social digital life,” affirms Alexandre Cardoso, Marketing Director of Terra.

Sonora, Terra’s music platform, offers a catalog of over 1 million titles with more than 150 genres through playlists and streaming. Until now Sonora was only available in Brazil and Argentina, where it has over 3 million users.
Átomo has also allowed more integration between Terra and its users. Terra has just reached an agreement with Facebook to allow users the ability to place comments on Terra and share them with their list of friends through Facebook connect.

As a part of the Átomo revolution, Terra will enable advertisers to employ new ways of promoting brands and products online. At Orbita US, Terra unveils new innovative interactive formats for online advertising with banners, skins and videos. “Terra has had incredible momentum in 2009 and these advances will be essential in continuing the amazing growth we have achieved”, states Fernando Rodriguez – CEO Terra USA.
