Bromley Communications, LLC’s new creative duo captured Bromley’s fourth consecutive win and first within the coveted film category as part of the 2009 Círculo Creativo (Young Creative Competition). Jon-Erick Jaimes (24) together with Almendra Tijerina (26) developed the top award-winning Ad Council film piece, “Interrupt the Influence.”
Winners were announced on Friday, September 18, 2009 at the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies (AHAA) Fall Conference. The competition, which drew more than 20 entries vying for top honors in film and cyber, was reviewed by a panel of judges based on the 24-hour execution of the creative brief.
Although novices to Círculo Creativo,Jaimes and Tijerina had clear expectations. “We wanted to win and showcase a piece that resonates with the U.S. Hispanic mindset.”
The competition brief consisted of creating a :30 TV spot aimed at Hispanic parents of tweens and teens ages 9-14 urging them to do more to protect their kids from drugs through communication. The call-to-action was to visit hablacontushijos.org.
“We literally wanted to show how parents can interrupt the influence of drugs by talking,” said Jaimes. The duo selected a simple conversation between a mother and her son to depict the importance of talking with your kids. “We decided to focus on kids, drugs and communication, keeping in mind that the beauty of a spot is often its simplicity,” he added.
Tijerina is an art director for the Western Union account and Jaimes is a copywriter for Nestlé USA and General Mills accounts. Both look forward to competing against creatives from all over the world in the next round as part of the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival in June 2010. “We’re very excited for the recognition and eagerly look forward to representing Bromley and the U.S. Hispanic market in France next year,” said Tijerina.
“We pride ourselves in finding the best and brightest young talent. Having our teams recognized four years in a row, confirms that we are certainly going down the right path. We couldn’t be more proud of Jon-Erick and Ally,” stated Ernest Bromley, Chairman and CEO.
