RMHC/HACER Scholarship Program for Latino High School Seniors celebrates 22nd Anniversary.

This year marks the 22nd anniversary of the New York Tri-State Area Chapter of the Ronald McDonald House Charities/Hispanic American Commitment to Educational Resources (RMHC/HACER). To mark this very momentous occasion, the thirty scholarship recipients will be celebrated at the new historic Yankee Stadium home of the New York Yankees, in the Bronx. The winners will be recognized for their accomplishments along with their families, members of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the New York Tri-State Area, McDonald’s Owner/Operators and Corporate representatives (local and national) and the New York Hispanic media community.

This year, the scholarship program has changed its awarding methodology. The RMHC/HACER Scholarship program has transitioned from awarding one-year scholarships to providing financial support throughout all four years of the winners’ college/university education.

“For the past twenty-two years, we have pulled our resources to ensure that we help pave the future of our Latino youth,” stated Roberto Madan, Chairman of the local RMHC/HACER Scholarship Program and McDonald’s Owner/Operator. “Now we will go further and today’s economy has given us the certainty of the need to change our award methodology, supporting our winners with financial assistance throughout all four years of their education to ensure that they will achieve their goals of becoming educated Latino professionals!”

The 2009 winners were saluted at a special awards ceremony at the brand new NY Yankee stadium, hosted by Ronald McDonald House Charities of the New York Tri-State Area, with the support of McDonald’s Owner/Operators in the NY Metro region.
