March 7, 2009
WSCV / Telemundo 51 has secured its news leadership position as demonstrated by the results of the just completed March ratings sweep period. The station newscasts’ first place finish in the key A18-49 and A25-54 demographic groups was achieved at 6pm and 11pm Monday through Friday, and also at 11pm Monday through Sunday, among all local newscasts, English or Spanish. This success included another significant ratings victory: #1 Monday through Friday from 4pm to 6pm and in primetime from 10pm to 11pm.
“We are extremely proud of these ratings results and of achieving them in such a competitive news market as South Florida,” said Manuel Martínez, President and General Manager. “This is a tremendous achievement for Telemundo 51 and for our outstanding news team, and it also clearly shows the strength of the Hispanic market in South Florida,” added Martínez.
“We start each day remembering the commitment that we have made to our audience: to be responsible journalists who care about the stories that our audience cares about and who strive to put on the air the most professional and relevant newscasts in the market,” stated Migdalia Figueroa, Telemundo 51’s Vice President of News.
Telemundo’s 4pm and 5pm programs have made their mark by taking over the first place positions in their respective time periods. “Caso Cerrado at 4pm and Al Rojo Vivo at 5pm are undisputed audience favorites in South Florida, and we are very excited with their success, as well as with our entire primetime line-up and our two blockbuster novellas, Sin Senos No Hay Paraiso at 10pm and
El Cartel at 10:30pm,” stated Manuel Martínez.
