Telemundo & Endemol strike co-production agreement.

Telemundo Communications Group has signed an agreement with Spain’s leading entertainment company, Endemol Spain. The co-production agreement will open new business opportunities for the U.S. network and allow Endemol Spain to produce adaptations of Telemundo’s leading shows for that market, while Telemundo will be in charge of international distribution.

Endemol Spain has a vast experience in producing original series and novelas through the various companies under the Group, which have been increasing in the last few years with productions by Diagonal TV (“Amar En Tiempos Revueltos,” “La Señora,” “700 Euros,” “Ventdelpla”), Linze TV (“Arrayán,” “Ponme una nube,” “Rocío Casi Madre”), Zenit TV (“Quart,” “Rías Baixas,” “Bella Otero”) and Nadir TV (“L’Alquería Blanca”). In addition, Zeppelín TV is currently producing the adaptation of “Mr. Pells” for Cuatro and Linze TV is producing the adaptation of “Cómplices” for Antena 3.

Telemundo is offering featured titles including the novelas “Pasión de Gavilanes,” “Victoria,” “Dame Chocolate,” “Sin Senos No Hay Paraíso” and “El Cuerpo del Deseo,” among many others which have aired around the world and captured audiences in more than 100 countries.

The agreement includes the launch of a co-production effort between both companies to adapt Telemundo’s main titles for the Spanish marketplace and distribute them at the international level.

“Having successfully aired our productions in Spain for more than four consecutive years, this deal represents the natural evolution of our business in that market,” said Don Browne, President, Telemundo. “The next step after syndicating our original content is to export our formats to be produced locally and we have found an ideal partner in Endemol. This agreement speaks to the quality and consistency of our product and the power of our brand across the world. We’re positive this deal will bring great results for both companies.”

Toni Cruz, President of Endemol Spain, added: “We’re very pleased with this agreement, which will allow us to produce Telemundo’s most successful stories and adapt them to the taste of our local market. Obtaining stories that have proven successful at an international level is critical for our company.”
