Casillas joins Balsera Communications.
January 17, 2009
Balsera Communications announced the hiring of Vince Casillas to head up its new D.C. office. Casillas, most recently the national Hispanic press secretary for the Obama campaign, will be responsible for servicing existing clients and developing new business. During 2009, the firm will be aggressively growing its Hispanic focused public policy and political communications practice for issue advocacy organizations, federal agencies, non-governmental organizations and large corporations.
“We have always had an active presence in Washington, D.C. and after the election, the communications and paid media work we did for the President’s campaign has generated a lot interest in our firm’s capabilities,” said Freddy Balsera, founder and managing partner, Balsera Communications. “The time is right for us to have a permanent presence in the nation’s capital.”
Balsera Communications specializes in crafting communications campaigns to promote their clients’ issues, projects, products and services. The firm played an integral role in the 2008 Barack Obama campaign on the U.S. Hispanic advisory team and in the production of the campaign’s national Spanish-language radio and TV spots. Today, Balsera Communications is regarded nationally as a first tier public affairs firm with Hispanic expertise.
Immediately prior to joining Balsera Communications, Vince Casillas was national Hispanic press secretary for the Obama campaign, serving as the official spokesperson for U.S. Hispanic media, where he coordinated national interviews for then presidential candidates Senators Barack Obama and Joe Biden and for numerous Hispanic media surrogates who served the campaign.
Casillas also worked on the political campaigns of Richard M. Daley for Mayor 2007 in Chicago, Illinois and served as a strategist and operations manager for the Iris Martinez for Illinois State Senator Campaign. After spearheading these successful campaigns, Casillas went on to become the lead organizer and lobbyist for the Illinois Latino Caucus for A+ Illinois, a coalition that was created to mobilize communities and lobby state legislators to change the way Illinois funds public education.
