Report: SBS Ready To Sell Time For Music.

According to Radio Ink magazine, Spanish Broadcasting System is ramping up to sell airtime on its stations to labels and artists, Reuters reports. The program of “Monthly Rotating Infomercials” will be sold by format, and based on the number of plays. SBS Entertainment SVP Lucas Pina said, “The idea responds to a marketplace need. The company wanted to open a space for new artists.”

The infomercial slots, between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday-Friday and 11 p.m.-10 a.m. on weekends, can be bought by labels, artists, or third parties. The package includes the song with an introduction announcing the title, artist, and sponsor. No other ads or programming will air in the slots.

The report says artists and labels are “taking a wait-and-see attitude,” but SBS Director/New Business Development Manny Mora noted that the November slots are nearly sold out, with most purchased by major labels.
