Telemundo scores with Rumbo Al Mundial: Mexico vs. Honduras World Cup Qualifying.

Telemundo Communications Group announced results for the Rumbo Al Mundial: Mexico vs. Honduras World Cup Qualifying soccer match which aired on Wednesday, 11/19/08. According to Nielsen Media Research data, Rumbo Al Mundial: Mexico vs. Honduras delivered over 3.2 million total viewers and 2.1 million Adults 18-49, making it the highest-rated program in Telemundo history among these demos.

Telemundo was the #1 broadcast network regardless of language from 8-10PM last night among Men 18-34 and #3 among Men 18-49.

The game also gave a solid performance in key demos delivering 1.2 million Adult 18-34 viewers, 1.4 million Men 18-49 and 799,000 Men 18-34.

Overall, Telemundo averaged 1.5 million Adults 18-49 and 2.3 million Persons 2+ from 7-11pm on Wednesday, making it Telemundo’s best primetime performance since the network entered the NTI measurement in February 2006.

“Last night’s Rumbo match is yet another of the many great Mexican National Team qualifying matches that Telemundo will broadcast on the road to the 2010 World Cup,” said Jorge Hidalgo, EVP of Telemundo Sports. “These games, along with the upcoming Mexican League playoffs, including this Saturday’s featuring Tigres vs. Atlante, make Telemundo the home of Mexican soccer in the US.”

KVEA’s Rumbo game ranked #1 in the timeperiod among total viewers across all stations in the market. It delivered a 4.1/67% Span share, with 689,000 total viewers. Among Adults 18-49, the game on KVEA ranked #1 in the timeperiod across all stations in the market with a 5.8/76% Spanish share, delivering 468,000 Adults 18-49 viewers.

The match not only out-delivered all Spanish and English stations combined in the DMA but also tied for the highest-rated game of the 2008 Mexican National Team season on Telemundo (tied with Mexico vs. Honduras on 8/20/08). Overall, it was the #1 program from sign-on to sign-off in Los Angeles.

New York 8p-10p

WNJU’s broadcast of the game was the highest-rated Mexican National Team match of the season on the station. The game ranked #1 across all stations in the DMA among the Men 18-49 demo. It delivered a 2.5/66% Span share, with 114,000 M1849 viewers. Among the Adults 18-49 demo, the Mexico vs. Honduras Match on WNJU ranked #1 in the timeperiod among Spanish stations in the market with a 2.0/51% Spanish share, delivering 178,000 Adults 18-49 viewers.

Miami 8p-10p

The game was the highest-rated Mexican National Team match of the season on WSCV among Adults 18-49.
In the demo, the match ranked #1 in the timeperiod across all stations in the market with a 2.7/33% Spanish share, delivering 50,000 Adults 18-49 viewers. The game also ranked #1 in the timeperiod across all stations in the market among the Men 18-49 demo delivering 39,000 viewers with a 4.3/43% share of Spanish.

Chicago 7p-9p

WSNS delivered a 3.0/59% share of Spanish among Men 18-49, ranking #1 across all stations in the market in the timperiod.

Houston 7p-9p

KTMD’s airing of the Rumbo match made it the #1 program in the timeperiod as well as from sign-on to sign-off in the Houston DMA among total viewers (270,000 impressions, 4.6/52% Spanish share), Adults 18-49(162,000 impressions, 5.8/60% Spanish share) and Men 18-49 (109,000 impressions, 7.8/72% Spanish share).
