Muñoz named Executive VP of Univision Radio National Sales.

Univision Communications Inc. and Katz Radio Group, a division of the Katz Media Group announced the appointment of Chris Muñoz to lead Univision Radio National Sales (URNS). Additionally, Peter Kakoyiannis was promoted to senior vice president of National Sales of URNS, reporting to Muñoz. Both appointments are effective November 1, 2008.
An 11-year Univision veteran, Muñoz was named executive vice president and general manager of URNS. Muñoz previously served as senior vice president responsible for overseeing network radio revenue and the creation of marketing platforms, working hand-in-hand with Jack Hobbs.
“Chris has proven himself as a respected leader in sales with a strong record of success and excellent relationships in the industry. He is the ideal person to drive growth for Univision Radio National Sales,” said Gary Stone, president and chief operating officer, Univision Radio.
“Chris has built a strong track record and I am delighted that he will take the helm of Univision Radio National Sales,” said Mark Gray, president, Katz Radio Group. “Chris has the experience to work in concert with Peter to maximize Univision Radio’s assets and the channels inside Univision Communications to further their unique cross-platform integration opportunities.”
Before joining Univision Radio, Muñoz was vice president of National TV Spot Sales for Univision Television Group, covering the Midwest territory. In 1997, he was part of the newly organized NBC Sales & Marketing division in Chicago, responsible for representing the owned-and-operated television stations as an account manager. He began his advertising career in 1993 as a media buyer at Leo Burnett.

Kakoyiannis started his career in 1991 as an account executive at WXRK radio in New York, and joined Christal Radio in 1993. He became the director of Sales for Sentry Radio in 1998 and was promoted to vice president and divisional manager a year later. After two years as director of East Coast Sales for Wink Interactive TV, Kakoyiannis joined URNS in 2002 as vice president and general sales manager.
Mr. Muñoz replaces Laura Hagan who was the president of Univision Radio National Sales and enjoyed a 20 year career at Katz Media Group, the parent company of Univision Radio National Sales.
