After helping to mobilize nearly 1.4 million legal permanent residents to apply for citizenship, the leaders of the Ya Es Hora Campaign will brief reporters on Thursday, September 25 at 12:00 EDT on a historic registration drive targeting a million potential Latino voters.
The ya es hora, Ve y Vota (It’s Time, Go Vote!) campaign, which includes Entravision Communications, impreMedia, Mi Familia Vota Education Fund, NALEO Educational Fund, National Council of La Raza and Univision Communications Inc., will announce their historic effort to distribute nearly 1 million voter registration cards in seven states. The largest Latino voter registration effort of its kind in the nation’s history, this unprecedented effort is part of a comprehensive national media and community based initiative that will look to create dramatic increases in Latino voter participation in 2008. Heavy promotion of the effort will be conducted by media partners Univision and Entravision via television and radio.
